Something Very Different

Ok, here's something different. I came across a puppet making lesson by way of a link from Mukpuddy Animation Blog.

I sew. My mother taught me how to when I was a kid (yes I sew, got a problem with that!? ) So anyway I fired up my sewing machine grabbed some scrap fabric an old fleece jacket, foam and a hot glue gun and this is what came out. I got to say it was really fun to make. I hope to make a few more. Why? hey why not.

Here's the link to the lesson I got on the puppet

Background Art III

Still coming. I think it's a good thing to re-direct yourself a bit through the course of a day or week. I like to shift gears for a half hour or so and mess with something different to kind of clear my head before returning to a project. It's refreshing. At any rate below is another background I did based on Hanna Barbera's designs but this time I came up with the composition. Then I decided to drop in two of my characters and see how it looks.

Here's another link of some fantastic backgrounds by Scott Wills. I highly recommend checking it out.

Background Art II

Another Lunch time background. This one is from one of my favorite Hanna Barbera toons, Top Cat. Nothing original about it, I just thought I'd try to mimic one of the back alley scenes. I believe the majority of the background art for Top Cat was done by Fernando Montealegre.

Background Art

I think I've said this before, but I love Hanna Barbera. One thing I love about their cartoons are the backgrounds which have had a profound influence in many of today's cartoons. At any rate, I needed to clear my head a little bit and I did these two backgrounds on my lunch time. They're heavily inspired by many of the HB backgrounds as well as other cartoons such as Samurai Jack, Tennesee Tuxedo...
